Are you using LinkedIn for your business?
LinkedIn is one of the most important elements of your social media strategy. Unfortunately, it often becomes a set-it-and-forget-it network, meaning you set it up a long time ago and haven’t done much with it.
Here are three tips for really taking advantage of LinkedIn:
- Make sure you have a great profile photo – and that it’s updated and professional. This isn’t the place for the photo with your kids or dog – save that for your personal Facebook page.
- Ensure that your expertise and your experience are updated. One of the first things people do when they’re researching you is to Google your name, and one of the first things that will come up is your LinkedIn profile. If it’s out of date, that gives the impression that you’re out of business, so make sure your experience and expertise are up to date, particularly over the last five to 10 years.
- Make time for recommendations. These serve as testimonials, and while in real estate there are all kinds of places you can give and get these, LinkedIn is the perfect place for them because it’s more than just real estate; it’s a professional network. I always say: give to get. So who can you give a recommendation to? Think of all the people you work with in real estate: stagers, title reps, other agents, all these people who are doing great work for you and your clients. Why not surprise them with a recommendation? It doesn’t have to take a lot of time. In fact, giving one or two recommendations a month can really make a big difference in your business. And in turn, those you recommend will turn around and give recommendations back to you.
I hope these tips help you optimize your LinkedIn profile!
