Instagram Do’s and Don’ts for Real Estate Agents 2021

What are my Instagram do’s and don’ts for Realtors in 2021? In this episode I’m sharing a few of my biggest tips when it comes to Instagram for real estate agents.

Do – Post Informative Content. Often I see agents and brokers only posting their listings, but you should also be posting informative content. On Instagram, the content that tends to get the most comments, likes and shares is content that is informative. Think about questions you get asked all the time for creating informative content.

Do – Create Shareable Content. Not only do you want to create informative content, but content that is shareable. Think about your own experience – what do you share on Instagram? For most of us, we share things that are really informative, funny or inspirational.

Do – Maximize Each Area of Instagram. The five big areas of Instagram are the feed, Stories, IG Live, IGTV and Reels. If you really take advantage of all five areas, Instagram will reward your efforts.

Don’t – Make It All About You. I would encourage you to think beyond just your listings. Sharing more community and educational focused content will make a big, big difference.

Don’t – Just Share Your Listings. Again, I often see Realtors only sharing listings. It’s great to expand your content. Also, when you’re sharing listings, try to think beyond the facts. What is the story of the home?

Don’t – Forget to Engage with People. This is huge! It’s not enough to just post consistently, but you need to engage with others. I recommend trying to engage with a minimum of 5-10 people a day. Also be sure to always comment back to increase your Instagram presence.
