The Real Reason Why Real Estate Pros are Flocking to Instagram

Have you been wondering why real estate agents and brokers are flocking to Instagram? If you’re like me, you’ve seen a lot of agents and brokers that are active on Facebook. They’re active on Facebook but they’re also kind of dipping their toe into the water over on Instagram, and I have to say I have been spending a lot of time on Instagram and we’re seeing a lot of agents and brokers who are getting a lot of business from social media who are doing so as well.

So here’s why. Instagram is a very aspirational platform, and what I mean by that is people love pretty pictures, right? We love beautiful pictures, especially when it comes to homes and architecture. Things like a beautiful granite backsplash or a gorgeous pool or a beautiful front door, and those are things that we can share as real estate professionals that can really help tell the story of what it feels like to work with you, of what your area is all about, of your love of real estate. So again, it’s a little bit different than Facebook. Facebook, we tend to share a lot. We see a lot of noise on Facebook, from political posts to cat videos to what people had for breakfast, and Instagram’s a little bit quieter. It’s a little bit of a smaller platform still.

So the good news is that there’s a lot of opportunity, whether you’ve been on Instagram for a long time or maybe you’re just thinking about using the platform. Now when it comes to Instagram, there’s lots of great ways to use Instagram. You can use Instagram Stories to tell the backstory, to show the story behind the story as you’re out and about, as you’re working with clients and showing all the work that you do when it comes to working with your potential buyers and sellers. There’s also the regular Instagram newsfeed with photos and videos that you can share. We post a lot of great content in Instagram as well, in that newsfeed, as well as behind-the-scenes with our Instagram Stories. There’s also Instagram TV where you can repurpose and publish vertical video, that’s a longer form video. So if you’re already creating video content over on YouTube or Facebook, you can repurpose that over on Instagram TV.

You can also use Instagram ads. Instagram ads are a great piece of real estate, no pun intended. It’s a great place to advertise your business, your listings, build your brand. You can run ads in Instagram Stories as well as in the Instagram newsfeed. So lots of great opportunities.
