Have you ever struggled with how to create an easy social media calendar? I can help! Today I’m sharing a few simple ways you can create a compelling social media calendar.
First and foremost, when it comes to a social media calendar I’m a big believer in thinking about what content do you already have. So, think about your website, think about links that you already have on your website links that have to do with buying or selling or becoming a first-time home buyer. All of those links. Those could be potential posts and potential ideas when it comes to content.
The other tip that I’m going to give you is to think about your content in terms of themes. So it’s much easier to think of a social media calendar when you can think about themed days of the week. Now you might not have every day being a theme day, but perhaps Monday is Monday Motivation, or Tuesday is Tip Tuesday, or Wednesday is Wednesday Wisdom, Thursday is Throwback Thursday. When you start to get into a rhythm, it’s a lot easier to not only create content and batch create your content. As you know, a lot of you, I’m a big believer in that.
Getting into a system makes a big difference, so thinking about your themes, thinking about content you already have, and then the other thing you want to think about is what is your business all about, right? Do you focus on working with fist-time home buyers, or are you more on the luxury market? Are there certain areas that you work in more than others? You want to start to brainstorm different things and different questions that come up pretty frequently in your day-to-day business when it comes to working with buyers, sellers, your clients, your past clients.
One of the things that we’ve done that’s made a big difference is we’ve created a content grid. If you haven’t downloaded this, this is something that thousands of agents and brokers have downloaded, and this will give you more than 30 ideas to really jumpstart your social media strategy. Then you want to brainstorm. Think about what content you already have. Think about your business in terms of themes, and also think about different themes for different days of the week. Those are a few simple things that can make a big, big difference.
Another little bonus tip I’ll give when it comes to thinking of your social media schedule is really think about one platform at a time. Sometimes it’s really easy to get overwhelmed and we think about Facebook and Twitter and Instagram and LinkedIn and YouTube, and every single social media platform. I’m a big believer in picking one, maybe two, go all in with those. Pick the ones that you enjoy. Pick the one that your clients are involved in, and that can make a big, big difference.
I also want to share with you one other great free tool when it comes to planning and calendaring. There’s a great website out there called calendarlabs.com.
If you’re like me, and you love a digital calendar but you also love putting pen to paper because there’s nothing like pen and paper. So calendarlabs.com allows you to download free calendar templates, and it’s a great place to start when it comes to your social media calendaring and scheduling. So download the content grid. Download some free calendar templates, and you’ll be good to go.
