3 Tips to Generate More Leads with LinkedIn | #GetSocialSmart Show Episode 094

Are you ready to generate more leads over on LinkedIn? Today I want to share with you just a few simple tips on how you can generate better leads through LinkedIn.

Tip number one: Optimize your profile. Your profile is one of the most important pieces of your LinkedIn strategy, especially when you want to think about attracting the right leads. So make sure you have an updated photo. There’s nothing worse than meeting someone for the first time, and their reaction is, “Oh, you look nothing like your photo.” So make sure you have an updated photo.

You also want to make sure that you’re updating your summary and your experience and your expertise. Don’t just list the fact that you’re a real estate agent or broker. This is your time to shine. You really want to share who you are and what you’re all about. So take the time to optimize your profile. Do some of the endorsements. Write some recommendations. Spend a little bit of time enhancing your profile and that’s one of the first ways to really generate great leads when it comes to LinkedIn.

Side note to that first tip. If you specifically work in a specific market, which for most of you in real estate that’s what it’s all about, right, location is the name of the game. Make sure with LinkedIn you’re actually mentioning that specific market. So if you’re an agent in Denver, you might to make sure that you’re specifically mentioning that you serve the Denver market. You might even create some content inside LinkedIn, maybe you create some blog content or you post some videos that have to do with your local Denver market.

So make sure when you’re optimizing your profile you’re also mentioning the specific cities and areas that you serve.

Tip number two: There’s a great tool called slideshare.net that could help you generate great leads. Slideshare.net is a free tool. It’s owned by LinkedIn. And with slideshare.net you’re actually able to upload content to SlideShare that can then be shared automatically over to LinkedIn.

So how does this help you if you’re a real estate professional? Well, you might have some great content that you could create a slideshare with. Perhaps it’s a slideshare of your favorite testimonials or the areas that you serve, the communities that you work in. Maybe it’s a slideshare of your team and who you are and your background. Slideshares are created generally using either PowerPoint or Keynote or Google presentations. You can download those, upload those over into SlideShare, share them for free over on LinkedIn. And what’s really kind of fun about SlideShare is that there’s a free lead tool that you can actually insert into SlideShare. So at the end of your slideshare, you can insert a little lead form that says, for more information email me here, and they could put in their name and email and you could actually collect leads right through SlideShare. But SlideShare is also a great way to really enhance your profile.

So you probably already have some great content out there with testimonials and information about yourself, why not put together a couple of slideshares that you can then also share over on your LinkedIn profile to generate great leads.

Tip number three is to create valuable content regularly. So what you may not realize over on LinkedIn is you can actually publish content over on your LinkedIn profile. This is totally free. You don’t have to pay for it. But you go over to LinkedIn and there’s a little button that says Write An Article. Now this isn’t necessarily the place where you could be writing about your new listings, but you can create content that’s evergreen, meaning it’s valuable not just today but it’s valuable maybe three, six, twelve months from now.

So it might be the top 10 reasons to move to your market area. Top 10 reasons to move to the San Francisco Bay area. Top 10 reasons to move to Denver or Miami, whatever your market area is.

Or the Top 3 questions every new home buyer asks you. Or the biggest things I’ve learned from being in real estate for the last ten years, whatever that might be. Creating that valuable content on LinkedIn, first of all it’s going to help you in the search results with LinkedIn, it’s also going to enhance your LinkedIn profile. When you create a piece of content over on LinkedIn, you can then share that piece of content over on your other social networks. But again, it really helps to attract the right type of leads because they’re not just talking about attracting any type of leads, I’m talking about attracting the right type of leads, and that’s what happens when you put great content out there.
