Today I want to share with you three little known secrets that have to do with Facebook groups.
Facebook groups are one of the best ways to build and engage community. According to Mark Zuckerberg, one of the recent things that they’re rolling out when it comes to changing the newsfeed is that they’re giving preferential treatment to companies and brands that are sharing engaging content, and they’re also giving a little bit of preferential treatment to groups. So there’s a few things that you may not realize that you can do with groups.
First of all, you can link your business page to your group. So if you have one group or multiple groups on your business page, you can now showcase and highlight those groups, which will help drive people to those groups, to that conversation.
The other thing you can do with your Facebook group is you can schedule content. This is extremely helpful. We schedule some of the content in our Facebook groups periodically, especially as you want to use a Facebook group to build engagement. A Facebook group is just like any other platform on Facebook and that is you have to have a content strategy, and you have to post consistently. We get into a rhythm of scheduling two or three, maybe even four posts a week, and then we filter that in with other engaging posts. That really helps to build the community. So scheduling your content right within your Facebook group can help tremendously.
Lastly, looking at your groups insights. There’s some great information about some of your most engaged users, who’s most active. It’ll really give you a good sense of who is engaging with our Facebook group.
Bonus tip! My bonus tip when it comes to Facebook groups is you can now do Facebook stories within your Facebook group. I’ve been using Facebook stories periodically in our groups to really highlight users, to highlight some of our most engaged conversations that are happening in our Facebook group, and it’s just one more way to engage people in a conversation.
There’s some great groups that are happening on Facebook. We’re seeing a lot of great people who are doing local groups for their own local community. We’re also seeing brokers who are doing some great groups for their brokerage.
Maybe you have been on Facebook for some time, maybe you’ve got a personal profile. Maybe you’ve got a business page. Business pages are still where it’s at in terms of running ads and promoting your listings. But a group is a really fantastic way to bring together a group of like-minded people, whether it’s first time home buyers or people of a specific community or niche, people of a certain background or area, and it’s a great way to take your social media strategy to the next level.
