Today, we are talking about how to create not just useful content but memorable content. So, we’re living in this world of content marketing, and everybody’s vlogging and blogging and podcasting and doing Facebook Live and all this stuff. Content is great, but let’s face it, there is a lot of noise out there. How do you really make the most of your content marketing? The big key is not just putting out useful tips. Useful is part of that, but put out something that is memorable. The biggest way that you can be memorable in your content is to have an opinion.
Now, obviously we don’t want to go off offending people or anything like that, but at the same time, don’t be vanilla. Don’t be vanilla. Lean into who you are and who you’re not. And when you have an opinion and you insert your opinion into your content and you become more of a visionary not just a content creator, it makes a big, big difference.
For example, if you’re putting together a checklist or a blog post or a video with some useful content, make sure you’re also inserting your own personal opinion, because that’s what’s going to make you stand out. That’s what’s going to make you differentiate your content vs. the hundreds if not thousands of topics that can easily be Googled.
A good friend of mine once said create content that can’t be Googled. You might be creating content on three tips on how to get your home ready for the market or the five best ways to declutter your house or how to get ready to be a first time home buyer. All of that is really great content, but the secret sauce, that cherry on top is making sure you insert your opinion, your beliefs, your personal stories. That is the secret sauce, and that’s what makes a big difference in being memorable not just useful.
