5 Little Known Facebook Features | #GetSocialSmart Show Episode 028

Today we’re going to talk about Facebook and I’m going to share with you five things that not a lot of people I feel like are using on Facebook and a few things that I think will make a big difference in your Facebook strategy.

Number one, Facebook audio. Did you know you can now leave Facebook audio recordings? It’s very similar to Facebook Live, where you’re live with video. Let’s face it, sometimes we just don’t want to do video. We don’t want to do our hair and makeup and just audio can be really, really powerful. This is something that’s rolling out to all accounts, the ability to create content that’s just audio content right within Facebook. Great opportunity to create content, but maybe if you don’t want to be seen on camera, Facebook audio could be the way to go. You can do that on your personal profile and it’s slowly rolling out to business pages.

Number two, Facebook stories. Just like we have Snapchat and Instagram stories, we now have Facebook stories. This has been out for really the past few months, but this is a great opportunity again to kind of showcase the story behind the story, kind of the behind the scenes, if you will, as you’re using Facebook to really showcase yourself, your business, your life. Let’s face it, Facebook is really noisy right now, so being able to use some of the certain services that maybe not everybody is using is one way to stand out. Right now, Facebook stories is a great opportunity for that.

My third tip you may not be using is slideshow video. If you have a Facebook business page, you can actually create a great video with photos. Again, maybe you want to create video content but you’re not quite comfortable being on camera. This is particularly great for my real estate friends if you want to create great quick videos with your listings. You can go to your Facebook business page, click on the button that says, “Create a slideshow video.” You can add up to seven photos, add music, add a couple transitions, and just like that, you’ve created a great quick slideshow video. I’ve also seen this done really well with community videos as well.

Number four thing when it comes to Facebook is Facebook groups. A lot of you have Facebook personal profiles, business pages, but Facebook groups is still such a great place to build community. Now, I will say, hosting a Facebook group, it takes a lot of work, time, and effort. You want to have a strategy in place to how you’re going to grow that community, but a Facebook group is such a great place to get together like-minded people. Whether it’s for business, whether it’s a book club, whether it’s a local community group, those type of local groups can be really, really powerful and if you’ve been on Facebook for some time, maybe you’re rocking and rolling with Facebook ads, maybe your Facebook page is doing some great things, you’re generating some great leads, but you’re really wondering how to take it to the next level with Facebook, do you have a group? A group can be a great place to build that community.

My last tip, tip number five with Facebook, something you may or may not be using as effectively, is Facebook messenger. There’s nothing like that one-to-one. As much as it’s important to have a Facebook strategy of what you might be posting on a daily, or weekly, or even monthly basis, it’s also important to think about the one-to-one. One of the things I love most about Facebook messenger, and we actually did another video about this earlier in the year, is I love the voice function within Facebook messenger. You can actually leave a voice message to someone right within Facebook messenger. You can also call them, but you can leave up to a one minute message. How great is this for someone’s birthday, instead of being one of the 500 people that writes on their wall and says, “Happy Birthday,” why don’t you be one of the one or two people that leaves them a Facebook audio message using Facebook messenger?
